As a historical demographer, most of my research concerns demographic change, such as the demographic transition from high to low fertility and mortality, the baby boom, and the decline in marriage. Using large individual-level data sets, I try to explain these phenomena. My most recent project tries to explain the decline in morbidity in the last forty years.
